Svaroopa Yoga,emphasizes alignment with support, awareness and release of tension along the spine. The practice begins with shavasana - a resting pose that promotes relaxation and awareness. The posture sequence is designed to create release along the spine from the tailbone upward, building a foundation of stability. The use of props supports the body where it is tightest. The emphasis is on release of tension, rather than stretching, which creates physical and mental freedom from the subtle layers of tension present in our bodies. At the same time, the student is trained in proper alignment to create openness from the core of the body. This builds inner strength and stamina, and fosters aliveness and vitality. The experience of Svaroopa® yoga brings groundedness, deep calm, greater spinal freedom, all the physical benefits of reduced tension, and BLISS. ANYBODY can practice Svaroopa® yoga. It is a non-athletic form of yoga, and yet is perfect for the person who exercises regularly.
